About

Why RenewalWatch exists.

Subscription products quietly generate billions of dollars a year in charges that consumers never intended to renew. California's Automatic Renewal Law was written to fix this: companies must tell you, clearly and up front, that a charge will keep recurring; they must get your affirmative consent to that recurring charge; they must send you an acknowledgment with cancellation instructions; and they must let you cancel online, the same way you signed up.

RenewalWatch documents whether companies actually do those things. We look at signup pages, checkout flows, terms, confirmation emails, and cancellation experiences, and we publish dated observations. We do not publish conclusions of law.

RenewalWatch is a project of Javitch Law Office, a California consumer-protection firm. This site is attorney advertising. Contacting us — or submitting a report — does not create an attorney-client relationship.
